Welcome!

I fell in love with fiber arts as a young girl while learning to sew under the artistic eye of my grandmother.  She taught me to experiment and embrace creativity and push the boundaries with design. We spent many hours in her sewing room. I was learning to sew, but more importantly, I was gaining wisdom about embracing creativity and pushing the boundaries. The time I spent with my grandmother shaped my perspective on the joy of creating and the skills I learned are the foundation of my creative life. She taught me not to be afraid of asking “What if...?” and to "do the best you can with what you've got.".

Some of my creative endeavors include silk painting, quilt design and construction, longarm machine quilting, fabric dyeing, eco-printing, mixed media collage, watercolor, and simple bookbinding.  These soft skills led me to years of experience in digital content development, graphic design, and marketing.  All this experience has prepared me to make this giant leap.

I wished for this to happen about a year and a half ago.  I decided to follow my dream and started taking steps in the direction of making it happen.  I am proof that if you make the commitment to make a change in your life, you can.  You must put it out there…make it real…and believe it.

The universe opened some pretty big doors for me, and I was able to quit my stable full-time job and join the tribe of full-time makers and artists. I have found wonderful partners in my community to collaborate with and learn from.  I have new opportunities that will take me far beyond my local boundaries and wonderful opportunities for exposure here at home and around Knoxville, Tennessee.

My path is varied right now as I am gearing up for pop-up shops and art shows, camping and fishing trips, and a very cool cross-country trip to Dayton, WY to the Tongue River Artists Residency.  I am so fortunate to have been chosen as an artist in residency for two weeks this summer. I am also SO excited to join the Tennessee Artist Association at Studio 106 in the Emporium.  Being in the heart of the downtown art community is a wonderful place to be and I am honored to join them.  It has been truly remarkable at the new adventures that have presented themselves since I accepted this journey, and it feels great to be harnessing my energy, creativity, and perspective into my art and my business.

This blog will be a place to collaborate with others and share my meanderings and discoveries on my journey.  I will share what I learn about the art I love and feel certain we will find great topics to explore.  I hope there are others who are equally curious about nature, art, and science and love the good vibes they bring.

I’m excited about the possibilities and hope you will join me along the way as I share the magic of my artistic journey, the joy of creating, and the funny things that happen along the way.
