Work Anywhere! - Wyoming Adventure
Aug 02, 2022
I am excited about the possibility of working with an entirely different set of plant materials that are native to the area. There are many types of wild grasses and shrubs that I am excited to play with. I already have plans for Aspen and Cottonwood leaves and can’t wait to see what happens when they are exposed to my magical dye bath.
Hubs will be taking the journey with me as we drive across the country. He has agreed to be a "cameraman in-training". That should be fun. I have graduated from the Bo Alley school of Boat Driving, Trailer Backing, and Campering. So, it's only fair he experiences the pain of education as well. We will share the fun as we make our way out there.
The residency sits on the edge of the Tongue River and is a respite for creatives. It is a place where you can get lost in the majesty of the Bighorn mountains and the prairie flowers. The sky is bright blue and you can see for miles. I look forward to hiking and experiencing the land and what it has to offer. For two weeks I get to do whatever I want, whenever I want to do it. I can hardly get my mind around it.
Have you ever thought about what tools you would need if you were allowed to do art for two weeks straight? I have gathered everything from sewing, stamping, stenciling, silk painting, bookbinding, watercolor…you name it. I am also taking every piece of silk, paper, linen and other fabrics that I have stored throughout the year to play with. Oh…the possibilities!
I will be visiting the Kendrick Mansion and Arboretum in Sheridan, Wyoming just before my stay in Dayton to learn about the native plants of Wyoming. I am looking forward to a guided tour and will share my experience with you.

The town of Dayton, Wyoming is very kind to the visiting artisans. I will have the opportunity to display my art at The Gallery on Main in Dayton and will give a short presentation about my process on August 25th. More to come on those opportunities!
Thanks for following me on my journey. I hope I inspire you to work from anywhere, even if it starts on your back porch. Get outside and experience the world and work when you want. Cheers!
